EQT to acquire a majority position in Universidad Europea

EQT Partners AB, the Sweden based private equity firm, via the EQT Infrastructure VI fund, has acquired a majority stake in Proyectos Educavitos Europa (aka Universidad Europea), the Spain based provider of a private higher education platform, that operates 12 campuses in Spain and Portugal, from Permira, the UK based global investment firm, that provides long-term investments, in a deal that values the company at around EUR 2.2bn. Universidad Europea includes Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM), Universidad Europea de Valencia (UEV), Universidad Europea de Canarias (UEC), Universidade Europeia in Portugal, and Instituto Português de Administração de Marketing (IPAM) in Portugal. Permira has retained a minority stake in the company.
